“Beware of Dog” in a modern entryway.
This custom floor mosaic draws inspiration from the iconic “Beware of Dog” (Cave Canem) mosaic found in the ruins of Pompeii, an image that has endured for centuries and loved by our clients. Reimagined in glass, the piece honors the spirit and geometry of the original while translating it into a modern material language suitable for the home.
Over 20,000 individual glass tiles were fired, hand cut, and meticulously laid to achieve a surface that evokes the depth and texture of stone while maintaining the luminosity of glass. An opaque base was fused with transparent top layers, then sandblasted and fire-polished to soften edges and create a tactile, walkable finish. The result is a custom floor mosaic that bridges past and present, pairing ancient craftsmanship with a touch of humor.
A meticulous process to get it right.
Over 10,000 hand-cut glass pieces were fused, finished, and assembled to recreate the richness of stone using light, color, and glass.
